#4   FULLER HAIR HELPS YOU STAY HEALTHY

Okay, how can this possibly be true?  Here's how.  People who care about their appearance make healthier choices. Face it, if you hate the way your hair is thinning, you're more likely to skip your daily exercise routine and go for that extra fattening dessert.  This is simply human nature.  When you value your appearance, you take steps to keep yourself in shape.  What more obvious cue to your overall appearance is there than your hair?

#3       CAREER ADVANCEMENT

Think about it.  When was the last time we had a bald president?  Give up?  It was Dwight D. Eisenhower.  Statistically, by the time a man is old enough to be president he has a 50% chance of being bald.  But pictures of 42 presidents indicate that less than 25% were bald or balding.  Only 10% to 20% of the 84 male U.S. senators are bald or balding. The 11 male U.S. billionaires ahead of Ballmer on the Forbes list have their own hair, or at least appear to.   Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

#2 CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM

In 1992, researchers at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, surveyed 145 men, and found that 84 percent of the bald men were preoccupied with their loss. They described themselves as filled with self-esteem issues, helplessness, and envy of men with full heads of hair. Single bald men who had begun losing hair in their early twenties were more likely to suffer from extremely low self-esteem.

Stereotypes associated with baldness are not flattering. A research study conducted back in the early 1970's examined how a person's perception of another can be influenced by something as seemingly insignificant as hair density. Pictures of the same person were presented to 60 judges. Differences in appearances of this person were artificially manipulated through by a commercial artist. The results revealed that the person with fuller hair was rated as most handsome, virile, strong, active, and sharp. The same person with a thinning scalp was rated as less potent, weak, dull, and inactive, and the person with a bald head of hair was rated as unkind, evil, and ugly.

#1 SEXUAL ATTRACTION

Apparently, women dating on the Internet are perhaps five times more likely to connect with men sporting a full head of hair, rather than those who are bald or balding.  Recently, a hair-loss treatment firm based in Great Britain conducted a two-month informal study where they published two profiles on well-known dating sites.  The image showed the same man and included the same details. The only difference? On one profile they photoshopped a full head of hair on the gentleman and in the other his picture was presented  with him as  slick bald.  We probably shouldn't be surprised to learn that the hirsute version received 108 interested responses from potential dating partners while the balding version got only 22.  The moral of this story?  Get hair, get lucky.  <wink>
