Our treatment regimen capitalizes on a unique feature of the skin and its ectodermal appendage (i.e. hair follicles) as an organ system suitable for concomitant local and systemic therapy. Thus, the product line is founded on the paradigm of treating hair loss simultaneously, i.e. locally with active topical compositions and systemically with a highly potent oral supplement.
Our competition consists of drug based and non drug based choices. The drug-based hair loss treatment products consist of those containing minoxidil (Rogaine®)(Avacor®) (Provillus®), or finasteride (Propecia®) or dutasteride (Avodart®). All three pharmaceuticals have shown positive benefit in ameliorating the onset and progression of pattern hair loss. However, each of the three have also reported potentially serious negative side effects -- including teratogenic effects, pulmonary edema and other side effects.
The much safer non-drug based treatment choices include Nioxin, Shen Min, Procerin and several other brands. While some clinical benefit may occur in the use of such treatments, our HairGenesis® product line represents the sole example of a non-drug hair loss treatment supported with peer-reviewed published scientific research. This means that HairGenesis® is unique in that it is validated with the kind of research found in drug-based treatment choices, but with a safety profile found in naturally-based therapy. The research program at HairGenesis® is led by Dr. Geno Marcovici.
Chief Scientific Officer at HairGenesis®, Marcovici earned his Ph.D. in 2000 in human physiology. Marcovici wrote his doctoral thesis on the then-novel use of botanically derived substances in the treatment of pattern hair loss. Marcovici has, to date, almost twenty years of research and clinical experience in the hair loss field. He spent ten years as a partner in a Denver, CO. based surgical hair loss treatment center, Advanced Restoration Technologies Inc. At the time, Marcovici's clinical facility acted as a research site for IRB monitored drug studies, primarily wound healing trials testing materials for such well-known entities as Procyte Corporation and Organogenesis Inc.
HairGenesis®, developed at ART in 1995 has gone through three major development generations. HairGenesis® has also established a remarkably durable customer base, with some customers using the product religiously on a daily basis for more than ten years. The HairGenesis® product line is sold both as individual units and in bundled kits. Best results are typically achieved by combining the topical and oral components into a daily treatment regimen. HairGenesis® is also backed by what is probably the most generous satisfaction policy in the industry.
