Recently, we modified our highly popular and highly effective oral softgels and something that many people noticed was a change from twice-daily usage to once-daily. Other folks also noticed that the new pills were quite a bit larger than the previous formula. For so many people who had become comfortable with our HairGenesis® Oral Softgel formula, these were significant modifications, leaving some to wonder why we'd undertaken the update. Reasonable questions deserving reasonable answers.
To begin, please know that we do not casually modify our treatment formulations without compelling reason. We only do so if there is a sensible basis to create something that will presumably work better. In this case, we have modified our previous Generation III formula to our new Generation IV formula with a good deal of empirical evidence to show that the change was warranted.
In particular, one of the key modifications involved incorporating two substances designed to protect the hair follicle against pathologic inflammation. These are thioctic acid and a proprietary form of carnitine. Published research testing our new formulation showed that the composition did indeed present a protective benefit in a set of elegant basic science experiments conducted through the University of Albany, NY. For those interested, the published article can be found here in its entirety: http://ecam.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/nep102
It is also important to note that we implemented these valuable additions without subtracting the key formula components used in the Generation III formula. The daily dose of saw palmetto extract remains 400 mg. Betasitosterol content has not changed either. On the other hand, we were able to implement these changes in a fashion which rendered the softgels suitable for once-daily administration rather than twice-daily.
Other modifications incorporate interesting substances that serve a dual-purpose. For instance, one of the positive changes involved using a special form of grape seed oil as a solubility factor. Grape seed oil also offers demonstrable health benefits in and of itself. So from an active ingredient standpoint, nothing has been removed from the previous generation of product, but much was added. In fact, most people find that the new Generation IV formula works quite a bit better than the Generation III version.
Finally, we would just like to add the message that HairGenesis® is, by definition, a moving target, a work in progress. As we discover new ways to safely protect your hair we will put them into use in our formulations. This means that Generation V HairGenesis® will undoubtedly be superior to Generation IV. And Generation VI will be better than Generation V and so on. It's just how we do things.
