A remarkable and serendipitous fact about the skin is that it is the one organ in humans that is amenable to local and systemic treatment. As an example, consider the treatment of skin irritations, e.g. atopic dermatitis. Typically, in such cases a clinician may prescribe a systemic antibiotic concomitant with a local anti-inflammatory. Because hair follicles are essentially ectodermal appendages of the skin, one of the earliest hypotheses that rendered HairGenesis® unique in the category was our concomitant treatment approach. Here, we built the HairGenesis® treatment regimen around the concept that the best way to treat a condition like pattern hair loss would be to attack the problem systemically via an oral formula and locally via a topical preparation. Fifteen years later, we are still on the leading edge of the field. Our latest Generation IV formulations are the first to demonstrate utility against pathologic inflammation of the hair follicle coupled with highly potent DHT blockade. Thus, HairGenesis® operates as a dual-mode (topical/systemic) dual-mechanism (anti-inflammatory/DHT inhibitor) therapy.
